Volunteer Requirements
The Fallsmead Sharks rely on parent and community volunteers to make it a fun and successful season. You can volunteer to help at Meets, or to help with other team events, or both! Each calendar event has sign up links associated with it. Please contact the reps with any questions about volunteering.

Volunteer Descriptions
Swim Meet Positions ( * - must attend officials training):
- *Referee - runs the entire meet. Resolves any disputed calls or issues.
- *Starter – is the “on your mark, get set, GO!” person. The starter makes sure that each heat starts fairly.
- *Stroke and Turn – makes sure that all swimmers are swimming their stroke correctly. Incorrect strokes will be noted and those swimmers disqualified to ensure a fair heat.
- Automation – tracks all statistics of the meets in our computer system at the meets.
- Ribbon Writer – prepares the ribbon awards for our swimmers from the stats provided from Automation.
- Hospitality – provides a snack and drink for our officials and timers to enjoy at homes meets. The designated hospitality person sets up the drinks and snack at a table near the pool right before breaststroke.
- Clerk of Course – responsible for letting the kids know which lane they are swimming in. Coaches will usually line up the kids before their heat in front of the clerk of course. For younger swimmers, the lane number is written on their hand so they remember.
- Timers – Each meet requires 10 timers! We can’t stress the importance of this job. Your quick finger reflexes provide our children with their swim times.
- Runners - takes the times from the timers and delivers them to the automation table. We need two runners per meet to keep up with the pace of the events.
